I started FootyBoys about 14 years ago at a time when eCommerce was only really just starting to be a thing. Yes, the internet had been around for a while but at that time people were certainly not comfortable with buying online the way they are today.  

There was no Shopify, Squarespace, WIX, etc, you had to build a website the old fashioned way by hiring designers and developers to code and build a website to try and launch your business idea.

It was also a time where a lot of things were manual, incredibly time consuming, not digitised and the only way to profitably run a business was to be able to outsource production and manufacturing to China. But if you didn't have enough scale or capital to do this, then your chances of success were limited and you were easy pickings for large competitors to come in and steal your ideas and launch them as their own (not naming names). 

FootyBoys was my idea to tap into the popularity of football in Australia with its 4 different footy codes. That and the fact that it was almost impossible to buy a pair of footy shorts anywhere.  Like any business, you make mistakes and learn along the way.  You realise where you took a wrong turn and vow never to make that mistake again.

14 years later and with lots of lessons learned, FootyBoys has now run its course and will officially close down as I look to move in a new direction.  And that is FITNATIC, a new mens sportswear brand that will start with mens and boys swimwear and gradually move into other types of sportswear.  You never know a range of footy shorts might be somewhere in our future but any stock remaining at the time of its closure of FootyBoys will be sold at a discount on the SALE section of fitnatic.com.au until sold out.
